My name’s Michelle. I live on the south coast in a small holiday town called Torquay, just outside of Exeter.
I have around 20 years of experience in recruitment. My career began in 2004, working for a telecoms company in the HR & Recruitment team. I later joined agency recruitment in 2010.
I specialise in IT roles across a variety of technical disciplines, predominantly working with start-ups and SMEs, filling software, cloud and IT leadership positions.
In 2021, I set up my own recruitment agency, Leo Recruitment, and have never looked back.
I enjoy finding new ways to find technical candidates, and I’m always looking for ways to improve my processes and outreach to ensure roles are filled quickly, with the highest quality.
In 2024, I became certified in Understanding Autism. I have found that many autistic people in tech are misunderstood and rejected during the interview process, and even in employment, before being given the opportunity to prove themselves and show employers what they can achieve.
As such, I’ve developed a genuine desire to help autistic people find and stay in work by not only changing my own recruitment processes, but by providing as much awareness around autism and autistic characteristics as possible, so that employers may also develop more understanding about what minor adjustments they may need to make to get the best out of their skills and talents.
